The 2.0-litre, 195hp, twin-turbo diesel engine previously seen in the Vauxhall Astra and Insignia is now available in the Zafira Tourer. With official performance figures of 0-62mph in 8.5 seconds and a top speed of 135mph it is claimed to be one of the fastest seven-seat, diesel-powered MPVs on sale.
Using two sequential turbochargers the engine is said to offer instant response and a broad spread of torque. With the assistance of stop-start the Zafira's combined cycle fuel economy is 50.4mpg and CO2 emissions are rated at 149g/km.
Three trim levels are available: SE, SRi or Elite. Options include FlexRide adaptive suspension control, adaptive forward lighting and panoramic windscreen.
Prices start at £27,685 with the first cars due to arrive in the spring.
