What's the news?
Volvo's tuning partner, Polestar, will use the Los Angeles Auto Show to showcase its latest creation - the Volvo S60 Polestar Concept.
Exterior
The bright Rebel Blue paint finish ensures you won't miss the S60 Polestar. The colour scheme is combined with a sporty body kit and bespoke 19-inch alloy wheels; giving the car a similar stance and aggressive shape to Jaguar's XFR. Alongside the body kit, Polestar has fitted the S60 with contrasting black - presumably carbon-fibre - wing mirror housings and a twin-exit sports exhaust system.
Interior
As this is a concept, no details have been given regarding any interior changes. However, we would expect to see leather and Alcantara trimmed sports seats combined with Volvo's top-spec dashboard and equipment levels.
Mechanicals
Polestar has made the biggest impact under the bonnet. Here you'll find Volvo's T6 engine, highly modified and bolted to a Garret turbocharger to bring power up from 300hp to a whopping 508hp. This gets the S60 Polestar from 0-62mph in 3.9 seconds, aided by a Haldex all-wheel drive system, and onto a limited top speed of 186mph.
To help the car in the bends, the chassis has been lowered, widened and reinforced. An Ohlins suspension system also features, making the car as suitable for high performance driving as well as long-distance cruising - according to Polestar.
Anything else?
While the S60 Polestar is just a concept, you can get your hands on an S60 R-Design with a Polestar performance package. The upgrade increases output from 300- to 325hp; and torque from 440- to 480Nm of torque. This is available at any Volvo dealership, with all 2013 cars available in Polestar's Rebel Blue.
