What's the news?
Volvo has revealed the starting prices for the new R-Design and Cross Country versions of its extended V40 line-up. Prices start from £22,295 and £22,595 respectively, and both models are expected to hit the roads in the UK by the end of January.
Exterior
As already seen, both offer very different styling features to the standard car. The R-Design sports a new front bumper and rear diffuser, silver door mirrors and five-spoke 17-inch 'Ixion' alloy wheels. The R-Design is also available in an exclusive colour dubbed 'Rebel Blue'. The R-Design Lux features Xenon and LED daytime running lights.
The Cross Country, despite being marketed as a crossover model, isn't as jacked up as you would expect over standard guise. It does feature new black bumpers front and rear as well as chrome strips down the side. Silver roof rails have also been fitted, as have 16-inch alloy wheels as standard. The Lux pack adds 17-inch rims and LED daytime running lights.
Interior
Branded upholstery, sports floor mats, steering wheel and pedals and a blue-coloured TFT crystal display screen are all standard-fit items on the R-Design V40. The R-Design Lux features automatic wipers, leather upholstery and keyless start as well.
The V40 Cross Country comes with automatic wipers and textile/T-Tec upholstery; with the Lux pack adding leather upholstery and rear-reading and theatre lighting.
Mechanicals
No word has been given regarding mechanical changes, so we can expect Volvo's existing V40 powertrain line-up to be available for both models. To date the top-of-the-range T5 petrol engine and the D2 diesel units are confirmed.
Anything else?
Although entry-level prices start from £22,295 you'll have to fork out £31,390 for the top-spec T5 Geartronic R-Design Lux Nav; and £33,875 for the T5 Geartronic Cross Country Lux Nav with AWD. Order books are open for both models now.
