In what has to be a case of the worst timing ever Hyundai UK chose '3 Series day' as the time to announce prices and specifications for the forthcoming Veloster coupé. Set to hit showrooms in February prices will start at £17,995 for the entry level car rising to £21,745 for the Veloster Sport spec with optional dual-clutch gearbox.
All cars will be powered by the same 138bhp, 1.6-litre GDI petrol engine with the option of Hyundai's 'Blue Drive' that adds stop-start and low rolling resistance tyres. Blue Drive drops CO
2 emissions from the 148g/km produced by the rest of the Veloster range to 137g/km and boosts fuel economy to 47.9mpg.
Standard features across the range include Bluetooth, a 7-inch touch-screen media centre (with the capability of playing games through consoles and films from smartphones), climate control, reversing sensors and 17-inch alloy wheels in the base level Veloster or 18-inch for the Veloster Sport. The latter also adds heated leather seats, a panoramic sunroof and cruise control.
Like all Hyundais the Veloster will come with five-year unlimited warranty, five years of roadside assistance and five years of vehicle health checks.
