What is it?
SEAT has pulled the wraps off a four-wheel drive version of the latest Alhambra MPV. It has yet to be confirmed for sale in the UK, as buyers are more likely to gravitate towards existing front-wheel drive models with lower emissions, but it will appear in European showrooms.
Why's it here?
The four-wheel drive Alhambra is powered by the VW Group's 2.0-litre TDI engine via a six-speed gearbox. Expect 0-62mph in 11.4 seconds and a top speed of 119mph. Emissions of 158g/km are low enough to fall beneath the 160g/km cut-off for company car tax benefits and an average of 47.1mpg is promised.
Eco features include brake energy recovery and stop-start, and SEAT says there will be five- and six-seat versions available later on.
Show stopper or floor filler?
Euro buyers are likely to pay the Alhambra 4WD some attention, but us Brits will probably stick to the front-wheel drive variants to save on fuel and taxation costs.
