Jeep has announced the introduction of a new 2.2-litre diesel engine to the Patriot line-up. Sourced from Mercedes-Benz, it promises more performance and better economy.
Key figures for the new motor are 163bhp (up 23bhp on the old unit) and 236lb.ft. Jeep claims a 0-62mph time of 10.7 seconds and a top speed of 125mph. The maximum towing weight is up too, from 1,500- to 2,000kg (braked trailer). Combined cycle economy is 42.8mpg while CO2 emissions are below 175g/km, putting the Patriot in VED band H.
The updated models come with extra equipment, depending on trim level. The Sport features body-coloured door handles and hill start assist. Sport + adds cruise control and a leather steering wheel with audio controls. A six-way power adjustable driver's seat is fitted to the Limited model. The Overland gets 18-inch alloy wheels, embroidered leather seats and rear park assist.
Prices for the new Jeep Patriot range start at £14,995 for the 2.4-litre petrol Sport to £21,995 for the 2.2-litre CRD (diesel) Overland.
