The Infiniti IPL G Cabrio Concept might be on its way to
Paris saddled with the c-word, but it's very much a production ready car.
IPL is an anagram for Infiniti Performance Line, making this G Cabrio a showcase for the Japanese luxury brand's sportier products in future.
But unlike, say, a BMW M Sport styling pack, the IPL actually boosts power. It does so in this case by way of a free-flow exhaust system, taking power from 316bhp in the
G 37 Convertible to 333bhp. The power peaks 400rpm higher at 7,400rpm, and torque is up very slightly too.
The 0-62mph dash is quoted at 'under six seconds'. Sports springs - ten percent stiffer - lower the car a little, and the dampers are recalibrated for better handling.
The rest of the changes are visual, including 19-inch graphite finish alloy wheels, side sill extensions, a rear spoiler and a redesigned front bumper.
The interior of the electric folding hard top convertible is punctuated by red leather and dash inserts, and the centre console is piano black.
Infiniti hasn't confirmed production for the IPL G Cabrio yet, but will announce it dependent on reaction during the
Paris Motor Show. So, if you don't like it, head to Infiniti's stand and hurl some abuse.
