Toyota has revised the Auris for 2010. The styling has been modernised and the suspension settings have been changed.
The 2010 model has received restyled front bumper, headlamps, bonnet and grille, providing a visual link with the
latest Avensis and
Verso. At the rear, the bumper and lamp clusters have a new look and there is chrome trim over the number plate. All models get indicators incorporated within the door mirrors while TR and SR models get new 16- and 17-inch alloy wheels.
Soft touch plastics have been introduced on top of the instrument binnacle and surrounding the glove box. The centre console gains a silver finish that matches the door handles. Other interior changes include redesigned instruments for improved clarity, a reshaped handbrake for easier operation and new fabric designs for the upholstery.
Driver and passenger comfort should be improved thanks to revised suspension settings. The changes were made as a result of customer feedback and are claimed to better suit European roads. For better feedback and improved agility the Electric Power Steering has also been refined.
The engine line-up is unchanged with two petrol units and a turbodiesel. Customers can choose between a 1.6-litre petrol engine or a smaller 1.3-litre motor fitted with Stop & Start. Diesel power comes from Toyota's 1.4-litre D-4D powerplant. Both the diesel and the larger petrol engine are available with the MultiMode automatic transmission while the manual models have a six-speed gearbox.
The range is available in three 'grades': T2, TR and SR. All models now get a leather-trimmed, flat bottom steering wheel and the sound system features both USB and aux-in sockets. The TR adds climate control and front fog lamps. The SR, only available with the 1.6-litre petrol engine, includes a rear spoiler and amber instead of white illumination for the instruments.
Prices start at £14,463 for the three-door, 1.3-litre Auris T2. The TR costs from £15,140 to £17,745 depending on engine and transmission. Finally, the SR costs £16,495 and is only offered with five doors and the manual gearbox.
The 2010 Auris is on sale now.
