Volvo is challenging people to take the C30 DRIVe around the world without using a single litre of fuel. This will be done using the power of the internet and people passing a virtual C30 between their friends on Facebook. The goal is to go around the world in 80 days with the winning team securing a £13,300 donation to a carbon offset project.

Teams take part through a special Facebook app, plotting a course for up to 825 miles - which is the range of a C30 DRIVe at its official 74.3mpg fuel consumption. The car is passed to a Facebook friend who lives as near as possible to 825 miles away who then repeats the process. The goal is to get the car back to its original starting point and the winning team is the one that plots the most efficient route.

The prize is a £13,300 donation from Volvo to 'myclimate' in the name of the winning team. Myclimate runs a carbon offset project to reduce global warming. The donation should neutralise the amount of carbon dioxide generated by the average person in their lifetime.
