What's this all about?
Renault has announced equipment upgrades for its small cars. Clio and Captur models fitted with either MediaNav or R-Link infotainment systems now come with DAB radio as standard. For the Twingo there is the option of an EDC automatic transmission.
Tell me more about the DAB.
Except for the entry-level versions, every model in the Clio and Captur ranges is now available with digital radio for a greater choice of listening material. MediaNav and R-Link systems have also been improved. MediaNav gets Bluetooth streaming, TMC traffic information and SIRI "Eyes-Free" for compatible iPhones. A new, clearer and more sensitive touchscreen is fitted to the R-Link; this supports multi-touch gestures such as 'pinch to zoom'.
Other changes to the Clio range see the Expression+ trim level re-named 'Play'; this brings Renault's supermini range in line with the Twingo. The Clio Dynamique S Nav gets a new look leather steering wheel and grey upholstery.
DAB-equipped models start at £12,675 for the Clio and £15,395 for the Captur.
What about the Twingo?
Renault's 'Efficient Dual Clutch' (EDC) transmission is offered on Twingos with the 0.9-litre, 90hp, turbocharged engine in Dynamique and Dynamique S trim levels. The transmission costs £900 more than the equivalent manual version, starting at £12,595. It includes a manual mode, 'creep' function for smooth starting and crawling in traffic plus Hill Start Assist.
Minor changes have been made to the Twingo's specification. The Dynamique trim level gets a new style of 15-inch alloy wheel. For Dynamique and Dynamique S versions customers get the option of extra tinted rear windows.
