What's the news?
Aston Martin's Vision Gran Turismo concept was unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend and though it's set to be driven only on PlayStation, the 800hp supercar is believed to hint at the future of Aston Martin design.
Built to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the Gran Turismo series, design work for the DP-100 began with a blank sheet of paper six months ago with the Aston Martin team, under Design Director Marek Reichman, using many of the same techniques they use while designing Aston's road cars, including hand sketches and 3D modelling, followed by the fully functional virtual car. And the DP-100 is a (theoretically) functional car featuring a fully functioning suspension system, state-of-the-art electronics and active aerodynamics to better enable it to lap the Goodwood circuit in GT6.
Anything else?
While the DP-100 is a virtual concept we're promised it will inspire future road cars from Gaydon. "As with the CC100 Speedster Concept, many of the design cues visible in DP-100, such as the light blade rear lamps, could also feed through into future sports cars that we'll launch in the offline world so the importance of this project should not be underestimated," said Marek Reichman.
