What's the news?
Following on from a pricing announcement for the all-new X-Trail, Nissan has confirmed prices and specs for the funky Juke pseudo-hatch, recently refreshed with some visual tweaks and interior improvements to bring it closer to both the aforementioned X-Trail and the Qashqai in Nissan's overhauled SUV-crossover range.
The new Juke goes on sale from June in four trims - beginning with the entry-level Visia, moving up to Acenta and Acenta Premium, and topping things out with the Tekna grade; slightly different from the X-Trail, where n-tec replaces Acenta Premium.
Nissan says that, despite the visual updates, new equipment and enhancements (including a 40 per cent increase in boot capacity on the two-wheel drive versions), it has kept the pricing competitive. And so you can clamber into a 94hp 1.6-litre Juke Visia for just £13,420. For that, you'll get 16-inch alloys, air conditioning, a CD player with an aux-in MP3 connection, electric windows all round and tyre pressure monitoring. The Acenta trim kicks off at £15,320, adding 17-inch rims, Bluetooth and USB connectivity, climate control, audio controls on the steering wheel and rear privacy glass.
Acenta Premium is £1,150 more but it throws in NissanConnect, which incorporates satnav, smartphone compatibility and access to online apps. Premium buyers will also benefit from a colour reversing camera, seat fabric bespoke to the trim line and black headlining, while you can further detail your Juke with the free Nissan Design Studio Personalised Interior package for maximum individuality. If you opt for the DIG-T 190hp turbocharged petrol model, from £18,020, the Acenta Premium steps up to 18-inch alloys, Nissan's i-Key with push-button start and folding/heated door mirrors.
The Tekna begins from £17,670 and is all about luxury. On top of everything else, it comes with heated leather seats, auto headlights and rain-sensing wipers, the Safety Shield pack including lane departure/blind spot warnings and advanced moving object detection.
Anything else?
Whether you like the Juke's looks or not seems to be largely irrelevant to its phenomenal success, as 500,000 have been sold globally since production started in north-east England in 2010 - an astonishing figure, given that barely two months ago that number was reputed to stand at 420,000.
