What's the news?
Yes, this is a news article about a sales brochure. But, before you click onto something else, it's important to remember the car company we're reporting on.
Lister, the iconic racing manufacturer from yesteryear, has launched a modern-day variant of its classic Jaguar 'Knobbly' racing car; and has a sales brochure for its future buyers that not only celebrates the company's 60th anniversary, but also marks the first sales pack the company has produced in over 25 years. As well as giving customers all the technical and specification details of the Jaguar 'Knobbly', the brochure also details the history of the Lister Motor Company.
"2014 is a very special year for us," comments Lawrence Whittaker, Managing Director of Lister Cars. "We are still hand-building cars at George Lister Engineering in Cambridge and use many of the traditional methods that were used in 1954, as well as one or two of the original engineers. It's fantastic to think that Lister has a future ahead of it."
The modern-day historic racer will be sold in both road-going and race-ready guises, which have both been approved entry into FIA/HTP Appendix K historic racing events. Pre-tax prices start at £259,000 and £249,000 respectively and while this may sound a lot, the original, and extremely collectable, 'Knobbly' racers from the '50s are now fetching up to £1.2 million. Each Jaguar is built to individual specification and although production is limited, over half of the models planned for 2014 have already been sold.
With the first examples leaving the production line in April, Lister says that there will be a dedicated launch day for the new Jaguar 'Knobbly' at a yet-to-be-disclosed UK racing venue.
Anything else?
In addition to the 60th anniversary celebrations of the Lister Motor Company, plans are also in place for the 125th anniversary of the Lister brand in 2015. Marking the occasion will be a series of Lister sponsored historic race meetings.
