Today (Monday 21st October) Hyundai unveiled its Fuel Cell Farm, a piece of 'design theatre' that is located outside the Design Museum in London for one day. Deputy Mayor of London, Kit Malthouse officially opened the installation to the press at 9:00 with public viewing open from 9:30 to 6:00 in the evening.
The farm is a combination of hydroponics (growing plants in water) and aquaculture (raising fish in tanks). Water comes from the fuel cell fitted to a Hyundai ix35 and is filtered into the fish tank. Minerals from the fish waste are then fed into the hydroponics tank to grow vegetables. Members of the public visiting the installation will have the opportunity to learn more about the benefits of fuel cell technology.
