What's the news?
MG has released a special BTCC Edition of its MG6 saloon to mark the company's successful comeback to the world of British Touring Cars. During MG's first return season, Jason Plato has taken the chequered flag on no less than six occasions; and finished third in the final race of the season at Brands Hatch.
Exterior
A choice of either Arctic White or Union Blue paint finishes are available for the BTCC Edition; and both colours come with a matt-black finish for the car's roof. Other black detailing is found on the door mirrors, front and rear spoilers and the rear bumper. Bespoke 18-inch alloy wheels with Dunlop Sport performance tyres have also been fitted. A BTCC badge can be found on the front grille; and MG KX Momentum Racing decals can be seen from most angles.
Interior
Inside, MG has added a lot of standard equipment including satellite navigation with European maps, sports seats, cruise control, iPod connectivity and a leather steering wheel.
Mechanicals
A 1.8-litre turbocharged engine can be found under the bonnet of the BTCC Edition, which develops 157hp. The 0-62mph sprint takes 8.4 seconds, and top speed is limited to 120mph. No enhancements have been announced regarding suspension or handling changes.
Anything else?
Order books for the MG6 BTCC Edition are open now with prices starting from £16,995. Those who order their cars before the end of the year will also receive VIP tickets to a 2013 BTCC race, including a grid walk and a pit lane experience. A MG KX Momentum team jacket and hat are also part of the package.
