Lamborghini has released details of its 2013 racer - the Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo. While the chassis and power output are expected to remain the same, bodywork tweaks are set to dramatically improve aerodynamic performance - by 120 per cent over the 2012 model.
The profile of the car has changed slightly and aerodynamic aids have been fitted. One of these comes in the form of the new rear wing, which is adjustable between 10 different positions. Thanks to these new features, downforce has been increased by 128kg in low-downforce tune and 160kg in high-downforce guise.
The brake ducts have also been changed, giving a claimed 50 per cent improvement to brake cooling.
"We have taken a significant step forward with the aerodynamic performance of the new Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo," comments Research & Development Director and Head of Lamborghini Motorsport, Maurizio Reggiani; "but the car stays true to our core principles."
Those who competed in the 2012 Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo European Series are invited to a two-day testing event in March next year ahead of the 2013 series.
After beginning in Europe in 2009, the Lamborghini Super Trofeo race series moved to Asia in 2012 where it is proving to be a success. Lamborghini looks to take the event to the USA and other venues in the future.
