What's the news?
Following the recent announcement of the 208 GTi for UK markets, Peugeot has revealed this week a limited edition of the model. UK production will be very limited to a run of just 29 cars - representing 29 years since the first Peugeot GTi was launched in 1984 - the 205 GTi. Worldwide production will only reach 54 examples.
Exterior
Exclusive for the limited edition is a satin white pearlescent paint finish, contrasted with 17-inch 'Carbon' alloy wheels finished in Onyx Black. The lower grille will also feature a Union Jack, signifying the popularity of the GTi model in the UK.
Interior
Most of the interior will mimic that of the standard GTi; however some upgrades have been added. Limited edition models will come with satellite navigation as standard and - a first for a Peugeot - a Digital Radio system (DAB).
Mechanicals
No power or performance enhancements feature on the limited edition model, meaning that the 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine will be carried straight over from the standard version. The 200hp powerplant enables a 0-62mph of 7.0 seconds and a top speed of more than 140mph.
Anything else?
Production for the 208 GTi Limited Edition will begin in April 2013, with first deliveries expected around May. The special edition was inspired by the success of the standard 208 GTi; a car that has already had over 11,000 orders placed in the UK. The price of the Limited Edition is £20,495; however Peugeot has yet to reveal when order books will open for this model.
