What's the news?
Jaguar has announced an optional Speed Pack for its XFR saloon. The upgrades include suspension, aerodynamic and styling tweaks. Oh and the speed limiter is also raised from 155- to 174mph. Take that BMW M5!
Exterior
Eagle-eyed car spotters will be able to differentiate Speed Pack specification cars from regular XFRs by the unique front splitter and boot-mounted spoiler. More than just styling tweaks however these items are designed to increase stability at the higher speeds the Speed Pack XFR is capable of.
Interior
Jaguar has not announced any interior changes to Speed Pack cars; not that you would notice at top speed though.
Mechanicals
The supercharged 5.0-litre V8 engine under the bonnet still develops the same 510hp as the standard XFR but the engine and eight-speed automatic transmission have been recalibrated to cope with the extra top speed. Like the XFR the Speed Pack car also has a stop-start system that is said to improve fuel economy by 11 per cent and reduce emissions by 8 per cent, not that you will care when cruising the autobahn at 174mph...
Anything else?
The XFR Speed pack is available for a £2,750 premium over the £65,380 commanded by the regular Jaguar XFR.
