What's the news?
Following the announcement of the Astra GTC BiTurbo in June, Vauxhall has added a five-door Hatch and a Sports Tourer model to the BiTurbo range. Thanks to the engine's 195hp output, the Astra BiTurbo Sports Tourer is now claimed to be the most powerful estate in its class.
Exterior
The new BiTurbo Astras all feature the recent styling refresh that was applied across the range. A new front grille, front indicators and fog lamps, as well as revised rear panels are included in the update. Unique features for the BiTurbo models include 18-inch alloy wheels, twin rear exhausts and a distinctive exterior styling pack.
Interior
A flat-bottomed steering wheel, uniquely designed floor mats and alloy sports pedals are all expected to adorn the interior of both models - features that are already seen in the GTC BiTurbo.
Mechanicals
The 2.0-litre CDTi twin-turbo diesel engine uses a sequential turbocharging system, spinning a smaller turbo at low revs to eliminate turbo 'lag' present in single-turbo set-ups. This system allows the engine to produce 195hp and 400Nm of torque, giving both models a sub-eight second 0-62mph time and a 135mph top speed. Fuel economy is a respectable 55.4mpg on the combined cycle and the BiTurbo produces 134g/km of CO2 - figures that are aided by standard stop-start.
Anything else?
Both Astra BiTurbos are available to order from today (2nd August) with first deliveries expected late 2012. Prices start at £24,095 for the Hatch and £25,110 for the Sports Tourer.
