What's the news?
Hyundai has announced pricing and specification for the new generation Hyundai i30 Tourer with the entry-level 1.6-litre 120hp Classic available to order now from £16,195.
Exterior
Like the hatchback, the i30 Tourer incorporates Hyundai's 'Fluidic Design Sculpture' that the Korean firm says endows the car with a 'sleek and sporty profile'. The design conceals a 528-litre boot space - bigger than those in the class above.
Interior
The i30 Tourer is offered in four trim levels - Classic, Active, Style and Style Nav - with even the most basic form equipped with Bluetooth, air conditioning and LED daytime running lights. Move up to Active, which starts from £17,295, and you get alloy wheels, cruise control and rear parking sensors.
Added luxury in Style trim includes dual-zone climate control, auto headlights and wipers and electric folding mirrors, while Style Nav adds touch-screen satnav and a rear-view parking camera.
Two option packs are also available. The £750 'Convenience' pack with keyless entry, an engine start/stop button and chrome door handles, while the £1,000 'Individual' pack features leather upholstery, heated front seats and an LCD colour display on the dash.
Mechanicals
There is a choice of two engines in the i30 Tourer range with customers able to choose between the 1.6-litre, 120hp petrol unit and a 1.6-litre CRDi diesel unit, with power outputs of either 110- or 128hp. All come with a six-speed manual gearbox as standard or an automatic transmission for £805 extra.
Hyundai expects the 110hp version of it 1.6 CRDi Blue Drive model to account for 45 per cent of Tourer sales and when you consider it is 12 per cent more fuel efficient than its predecessor (returning 67.3mpg on the combined cycle) while emitting 11 per cent less CO2 at 110g/km it is easy to understand the reasoning.
Anything else?
The new Hyundai i30 Tourer is on sale now, costing from £16,195 for a manual 118bhp 1.6-litre petrol model in entry-level Classic trim rising to £21,900 for the 110hp 1.6-litre CRDi in Style Nav Trim and with an automatic transmission.
