What's the news?
The all-new Vauxhall Mokka, the Luton firm's entry into the compact SUV segment, is available to order now with prices starting from £16,995. Customers will be able to choose from three trims (S, Exclusiv and SE), three engines - two petrol and one diesel - and either front- or four-wheel drive.
Exterior
Vauxhall is hyping up the 'muscular and attractive' styling of the Mokka that it hopes will separate the baby SUV from the rest of the segment. The Mokka's stance is reinforced by its higher ground clearance as well as a 1,540mm track and 18-inch wheels on most models.
Interior
To justify a £3,600 premium over the Nissan Juke Vauxhall has loaded the Mokka with kit with even standard S specification including DAB radio, air conditioning, a Descent Control System, cruise control, aux-in and a multi-function trip computer. Exclusiv adds dual-zone climate control, Bluetooth and 18-inch alloy wheels while SE trim gets heated leather seats, bi-xenon headlights and tinted rear windows.
Mechanicals
Three engines, ranging in power from 115- to 140hp, will be available from launch with the 1.6-litre 116hp petrol only available in S trim. A 140hp 1.4-litre turbo is the Mokka's most powerful petrol engine and brings with it four-wheel drive and sub-150g CO2 emissions.
The 1.7-litre, 130hp CDTi diesel engine is available with either front- or four-wheel drive. In front-wheel drive form, the 1.7 CDTi can be paired with a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission, and with all-wheel drive the Mokka comes with the six-speed manual only. Manual models come fitted with stop[-start as standard to drop emissions to as low as 124g/km.
Right-hand drive models of the car have been specifically tuned for UK roads at the Millbrook Testing Grounds.
Anything else?
The Vauxhall Mokka is available to order now with prices ranging from £16,995 for the 1.6-litre petrol powered S model to £23,490 for the 1.7-CDTi diesel in SE manual with four-wheel drive and stop-start. Customer deliveries are expected to commence in November.
