What's the news?
The Lexus RX 450h range has received a restyle and an F Sport version has been added. Equipment levels are enhanced and suspension changes promise improved ride and handling. The new model is on sale now.
Exterior
Leading the styling changes is the 'spindle shaped' grille that is part of a new Lexus family appearance. The forthcoming GS saloon and the LF-LC concept feature the same design. At the rear there are new lamp clusters. F Sport versions get mesh inserts for the upper and lower grilles, a deeper front bumper and 19-inch dark finish alloy wheels.
Interior
There aren't any radical changes inside; the main difference is a new steering wheel incorporating a switch for the hybrid system's drive modes. Aluminium pedals and trim inserts, along with smooth sports leather and black headlining feature inside the F Sport variant.
Mechanicals
The F Sport model uses a lateral damper system, similar to that found in the Lexus CT 200h. This places a damper unit, rather than a fixed brace, between the front and rear suspension towers. These are designed to damp out small vibrations and manage body stiffness, benefiting ride comfort and stability. All models come with a Sport mode that alters throttle response, steering weight and traction control settings. The instrument lighting changes to red when Sport mode is selected.

If you want the F Sport you will need £51,995 and there is a Premium grade, costing £55,495, at the top of the range.
