Infiniti claims to be determined to establish itself as the leader in electric vehicles and to that end unveiled the striking LE concept at the 2012 New York Auto Show a month after the Emerg-E prototype was displayed at the Geneva Motor Show.
The LE is an evolution of Infiniti's design language first previewed with the Essence concept car. Imagine the LE with a conventional paint job and less shiny grille, and hopefully that's what Infiniti will bring to market in 2014. The concept is based on the Nissan LEAF's mechanicals though is similar in size to an Infiniti G37 four-door and the BMW 3 Series.
An equally striking interior features blue mood lighting with twin display screens powered by an Intel Atom processor along with Infiniti's 'personal assistant' concierge service.
Range is expected to be around 100 miles, aided by the super slippery body with a drag co-efficient of just 0.25. The electric motor produces 134hp and 325Nm of torque from a 24kWh lithium-ion battery. The battery pack of the LE can be charged using a home-based wireless charging station that a user can have installed.
