Renault's budget brand, Dacia, has released details of its upcoming MPV that is set to debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

The Romanian manufacturer says the Lodgy will deliver outstanding space at an affordable price. This price, it says, will appeal to families who would have previously taken to the second-hand market in their search for a five- or seven-seat MPV.

With an overall length of 4.5 metres and a van-like profile the Lodgy certainly seems to offer the space required by a large family and Dacia says that even with the rear-most row of seats in place there is still good storage space in the boot.

The Lodgy (whose name is apparently derived from the English word 'lodge' and is meant to convey the model's ability to comfortably accommodate a family and its luggage) will be introduced in European markets in March but as yet no decision has been reached on whether to offer a right-hand drive version for the UK. If it does reach these shores expect to see it sometime after January 2013 when the Duster and Sandero, arrive with a price tag lower than rivals such as the Ford C-Max, which starts from around £17,000.
