Chevrolet looks set to continue the move away from cutesy small cars with the strikingly styled Aveo. Said to draw on iconic Chevy models like the Camaro and Corvette the Aveo supermini will hit showrooms in January with customers getting a choice of three trim levels and four engines - two petrol units and two diesel with varying outputs.
Prices for the entry level 85bhp 1.2-litre petrol engine start from £9,995, which includes remote central locking, a rear spoiler, CD-radio stereo, electrically adjustable heated door mirrors and electric front windows. An extra £1,000 will buy you the mid-range LT model that adds alloy wheels, a multi-function steering wheel, air conditioning, a Driver Information Centre and Bluetooth phone compatibility. The LT is available with two diesel engines: the 74bhp unit comes in at £12,345 while an Ecodiesel variant that promises 95g/km CO
2 will set you back £12,795.
The top spec LTZ includes a leather steering wheel, front fog lamps, rear parking sensors and automatic headlamps with prices for the 100bhp 1.4-litre starting at £12,195 and rising to £13,615 for the 94bhp 1.3-litre VCDi diesel engine.
Full technical specifications and equipment levels are set to be confirmed ahead of the Aveo's showroom debut in January 2012.
