Lamborghinis may now be as reliable as their Audi parent's offerings, but few would call them cars for everyday use. Stephen Winkelmann, the flamboyant boss of Lamborghini, wants to change that and introduce a new model for practical daily use.

Speaking at a press conference, Winkelmann said the next car to join the Gallardo and Aventador would have to be "an everyday car".

Winkelmann's comments have further fuelled rumours that Lamborghini is set to develop its Estoque concept into a production car. It's thought the Estoque will share its platform with the next generation of Porsche Panamera - with Porsche being a distant cousin of Lamborghini through Volkswagen Group ownership.

This new platform is also reckoned to be on the cards for an Audi A9 four-door coupé and possibly a new Bentley model. Winkelmann has said in the past that Lamborghini will not use a diesel engine but continue to refine its petrol engines, so a new four-door saloon is likely to use developments of the firm's V10 and new V12 engines.
