GM has announced that from next year its Daewoo brand will be re-badged as Chevrolet in a bid to further boost sales and image whilst maintaining a clear definition between its value brand and existing market leaders in its stable such as Vauxhall. Existing Daewoo models will be re-badged and joined by a new line-up including a new 3-door version of the Kalos and new cars based on the seven seat off roader, the S3X SUV and the M3X city car that looks set to be the new Matiz, both shown
in Paris. This change gives GM a single entry level brand across the whole of Europe and a structure similar to that enjoyed by the VW Group.
As part of this re-launch, Chevrolet will be campaigning three Lacetti (badged Nubira in the UK) racers, currently being prepared by Ray Mallock's racing team, in the 2005 FIA World Touring Car Championship.
