At the
Los Angeles Auto Show last night (November 17), Lamborghini unveiled a lighter Gallardo Spyder. With 65kg of weight removed the LP 570-4 Spyder Performante promises an even more dynamic driving experience.
Think of the new model as an open version of the
Gallardo Superleggera. The weight saving comes from substituting carbon fibre for various parts of the body and interior. As well as making for a sharper drive the lighter car promises better economy and lower CO
2 emissions.
Using the 562bhp, 5.2-litre V10 engine, Lamborghini claims a 0-62mph time of 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 201mph. The performance is accompanied by a 'spine-tingling' sound track.
Equipment includes a choice of E-gear or manual transmission, sports seats and Alcantara upholstery.
