What is it?
BMW isn't giving away any real detail, plonking the stunning four-seater on its stand in Paris without saying much. However, the 6 Series Coupé Concept is, minus the flash wheels and tailpipes, a car you'll be able to buy from 2012.
Why's it here?
BMW will use one of next year's major shows to take the wraps off the production car proper, at which stage it will tell us all about the 630i and 650i V6 and V8 petrol versions, and the turbocharged 630d and 635d. It might even, if we're lucky, unveil the M6. This concept is here to get us thinking about those things.
Show stopper or floor filler?
The 6 Series is arguably the ultimate incarnation of the more refined design philosophy of current BMW shaping guru Adrian van Hooydonk. It has none of the knowing awkwardness of the current car. Low slung and sporty, the interior is 5 Series-inspired but very driver-centric. It's a stunner, frankly.
