The
2010 Paris Motor Show will see the debut of the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Blancpain Edition - the lightest road-legal Gallardo yet.
Yes, that's including the
Superleggera, with which the Blancpain shares its engine and four-wheel drive system. That gives it 562bhp and a dry kerb weight of 'no more than 1,340kg', according to Lamborghini.
It's been made as a self-congratulatory homage to the success of the one-make Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo racing series. So, much of the body kit is based on the Super Trofeo cars, notably the rear wing and vented engine cover.
Loads of the bodywork is carbon fibre, including the mirror caps and diffuser, as are parts of the interior. An interior swathed mostly in black Alcantara, that is.
The 0-62mph sprint is quoted at 3.4 seconds (the same as the Superleggera) and its top speed is 199mph. And in order to shave off that speed nice and quickly, time after time, the brakes are carbon ceramic.
Blancpain, if you're wondering, is a luxury watchmaker whose CEO Marc Hayek actually races in his company's eponymous series. He's not messing about either, because he's currently in with a shout of taking the championship podium.
No prices or word on production numbers yet, but the Superleggera costs £175,000 so we'd be surprised if the Blancpain stays below £200,000.
