MINI has branched out into the two-wheeled market and revealed three new concept scooters, each known as the Scooter E.
The zany but cute designs were penned by BMW designer, Adrian van Hooydonk, and, though they appear similar, each scooter supposedly serves a different purpose.
The bright yellow model is a two-seater, which MINI claims is developed for: 'the fun of driving for two'. The second, in British Racing Green and brown is a single-seater and apparently harks back to the company's motorsport heritage.
The third, in red, white and blue, is inspired by pop culture from the Sixties and features the blue cockade of the RAF and a perforated leather seat with an image of the Union Jack underneath.
Crucially, the scooters are powered by an electric motor, which can be charged at any conventional power socket and creates zero tailpipe emissions.
A snap-on smartphone adaptor will allow the rider to plug in a compatible mobile phone and use it as a music player or route finder.
An App on the navigation system will also point out where other MINI E Scooter drivers are and MINI is developing a system whereby the headlights will automatically flash at other E Scooter riders when paths cross. How friendly.
The new MINI Scooter will take pride of place on MINI's stand at the Paris Motor Show.
