Infiniti is promising that the new M35h hybrid saloon will not forget driver involvement in its quest to offer greener performance. Citing new technology, such as an on-demand electro-hydraulic steering system, Infiniti claims that the M35h's steering benefits from a smooth natural feel combined with the efficiency of an electric system.

It's not just the steering where Infiniti is adopting new technology, as the M35h's brakes feature electrical assistance, too. The Electric Driven Intelligent Brake provides the necessary braking force while maximising energy recuperation for the hybrid system. Like the steering the Electrically Driven Intelligent Brake is more compact and lighter than a conventional system, with obvious benefits to economy.

The rear-wheel drive M35h features a 3.5-litre naturally aspirated V6 petrol engine mated to a 67bhp electric motor built into the seven-speed automatic transmission. Powered by fast charge/discharge lithium ion batteries, Infiniti claims the M35h will be electrically powered more of the time and at higher speeds than conventional hybrids. There are no details or figures to back that up, but when Infiniti reveals more about its first hybrid we'll let you know.

Sales of the Infiniti M35h start in Europe from early 2011.
