BMW won the Mille Miglia in 1940, so it seems poetic that in 2010, 70 years later, the German firm has won it again - in the same car.
A 328 Touring Coupe took pole position in the 2010 race, driven by Giuliano Cané and Lucia Galliani. BMW reports it suffered no technical glitches, despite the fact that it's over 70 years old and it was driven 300 miles to the start of the race from the BMW Museum in Munich.
The 1,000-mile Mille Miglia race runs from Brescia in northern Italy to Rome in the south, via the challenging Alps. To keep warm, the drivers wore BMW bicycle gear, of course.
