Volvo just keeps on giving us reasons not to mention its name in the same sentence as the word 'sensible'. Here's the latest: the C30 Performance Concept Prototype.
Built by Polestar Performance, the mentalists behind Volvo's Swedish Touring Car Team, it has 395bhp and is real - it's due to debut at the Gothenburg Motor Show on April 22nd. That's actually a real event - we checked it on Wikipedia.
Polestar has been involved with Volvo for years now, but this is the first road car it's done for the Swedish company. All that power is channelled through a four-wheel drive system, and much of the stock C30's weight has been stripped out.
Of course, we're aware that it's a mere sketch that accompanies this article, but we're assured that more info will be forthcoming shortly. It was developed 'to evaluate what happens when a Championship-winning team of race engineers and designers get free-reign to design and engineer a car rather than developing it to fit very specific race regulations.'
In other words, it will never ever see the light of your front drive. Oh well.
