The Ford Focus Estate pretty much is what it says on the tin: the wagon version of Ford's new best-seller that goes on sale early next year. Still, it's a hugely important car for Ford and for many thousands of customers, so the Focus Estate earns its place under the spotlights.
Why's it here?
Ford reckons the Estate will account for a third of all Focus sales around the world, so a Geneva debut is highly warranted. In the UK, it will be more like 10% of Focus sales, but it's also a chance for Ford to keep the next generation of Focus in the limelight. There will also be a coupé, CC convertible and Kuga-replacing SUV to follow on the same platform.
Show stopper or floor filler?
Harsh as it may sound, the Focus Estate is more show filler when there are so many other delights at the Geneva show. We know it will be a big seller and the show car is the finished production item, but you need more than that to tempt our fickle eyes. Still the Focus Estate will come with Ford's latest EcoBoost petrol and Duratorq turbodiesel engines, and will undoubtedly be great to drive.
