Volkswagen has released pricing information for the new Polo BlueMotion. The economy-focussed Polo is available from £14,445 on-the-road (or £15,045 for the five-door).
To help achieve 80.7mpg on the combined cycle there are a number of cosmetic and mechanical changes. As with the previous Polo BlueMotion there is a new front bumper, side skirts and roof spoiler; there are also 15-inch 'Greenland' alloy wheels with low rolling resistance tyres. The five-speed gearbox has higher gearing; there is regenerative braking and an engine start-stop system. As a result, it is claimed that the Polo can cover 800 miles on a tank of diesel and has CO2 emissions of just 91g/km.
The BlueMotion comes with manual air-conditioning, a leather steering wheel and cruise control as standard. Safety kit includes four airbags and ESP.
Dealers are taking orders for the Polo BlueMotion now with the first cars due to arrive in May.
