Peugeot has released the first images of its gorgeous new '5 by Peugeot' luxury saloon concept car, set to be unveiled in public at the
Geneva Motor Show. The show car has 200bhp and four-wheel drive, yet only emits 99g/km.
The 5 concept is fitted with Peugeot's HYbrid4 technology, which is set to be launched in 2011 in the
Peugeot 3008 and eventually to become available across the range. The system supplies 163bhp to the front wheels from a 2.0-litre HDi engine. The extra 37bhp is taken from an electric motor positioned at the rear, which drives the back wheels when required. The car has the option of an electric-only mode designed for low-speed travel and overall the car has a combined fuel consumption figure of 74.3mpg.
Visually, the 5 concept is influenced by the
Peugeot SR1 concept car. These features represent the new design direction that the firm is taking and could perhaps hint at a new 508 model in the near future. The show car features classy 19-inch wheels and brushed-aluminium window surrounds and door handles. LED lights can be seen at the front as well as the redesigned Peugeot emblem and distinctive grille.
It is believed that the '5 by Peugeot' will make its world debut at next month's
Geneva Motor Show alongside the open-top SR1. We'll be there on March 2nd.
