Porsche has resurrected the Turbo S badge for its latest monster 911 that packs 523bhp. Unlike previous Turbo S variants, the new model will be a permanent fixture in the range.
The tweaked 3.8-litre, twin-turbo flat-six engine increases power by 30bhp to 523bhp over the
standard Turbo's 493bhp. There's also a boost in torque to 516lb.ft, which helps the four-wheel drive Turbo S cover 0-62mph in a lightning 3.3 seconds.
Top speed for the Turbo S is 196mph, while acceleration from 0-62mph can be achieved consistently thanks to the Launch Control that is part of the Sport Chrono package supplied as standard with this model. The Turbo S also comes with Porsche's seven-speed PDK dual-clutch gearbox and paddles shifters on the steering wheel included.
Also part of the Turbo S package is the inclusion of Dynamic Engine Mounts, a limited slip rear differential and Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes. On top this, the Turbo S comes with 19-inch RS Spyder alloy wheels that use a single centre locking nut, adaptive sports seats, unique two-tone leather upholstery in Black/Crème or Black/Titanium Blue, and Dynamic Cornering Lights.
The 911 Turbo S goes on sale in the UK from May with prices starting at £123,263 for the Coupé. A Cabriolet version costs from £130,791, and all Turbo S models come with a Porsche Driving Experience lesson and vehicle tracking device thrown in as part of the deal. No doubt the new 911 Turbo S will be on display at the
Geneva Show next month.
