Volvo has launched two new, low-CO2 models. The latest DRIVe versions of the S80 and V70 both have CO2 emissions below 120g/km.
Both cars use Volvo's 1.6-litre turbodiesel engine. This develops 107bhp and 177lb.ft, which are unchanged over the previous DRIVe models. A low-friction alternator and air-conditioning drive belt and intelligent battery charging have trimmed the fuel consumption from 57.6- to 62.8mpg on the combined cycle. Volvo claims that a tank of diesel can last for almost 1,100 miles.
Carbon dioxide emissions are down by 10g/km to 119g/km. As a result the Vehicle Excise Duty is in band C, which is just £35 per year. Business users will appreciate the low Benefit-in-Kind tax bills too.
The S80 and V70 DRIVe are available in a range of specifications from SE to SE Lux Premium.
