Carlsson, the German company best known as a Mercedes-Benz tuner, plans to unveil an in-house supercar project at the Geneva Motor Show. The C25 is being marketed as a highly exclusive Super-GT car (only 25 are being made worldwide) that combines high performance with comfort over long distances.

The C25 is said to have 753bhp on tap and be capable of producing an electronically limited 974lb.ft of torque at 3,750rpm, figures achievable due to the V12 Bi-Turbo nestled underneath the bonnet. As a result, 0-62mph takes 3.7 seconds and the top speed is reportedly 219mph. These impressive performance figures are coupled with details such as ultra-lightweight wheels and race-spec brake discs.

However, as mentioned above, Carlsson is trying to balance hyperbolic performance figures and components with high levels of comfort. To achieve this, the company has developed its own suspension system named C-Tronic. This adjusts suspension settings depending on variables like road surface and driving style. The idea is to cater for long distance cruises on motorways and continental autobahns, whilst also allowing for a Sunday morning blast if the owner should so choose.

In terms of the interior, the C25 is upholstered in materials like carbon fibre, buffalo leather and 'ultra suede', with Carlsson making a conscious effort to avoid roll cages and other racing paraphernalia. The owner will also gain regular safety features such as ESP, ABS and airbags.

Whilst the C25 is an independent Carlsson project, the links made with Mercedes-Benz remain strong. The C25 shares its genetics with the latest Mercedes models and so can be serviced at any existing Mercedes dealership.

The Carlsson C25 makes its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show, taking place between 4-14 March.
