Playboy amateur racers (or playgirls) take note: the Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR-X can be yours if you've got the time, money and cajones (or... erm, the lady equivalent). It's not street legal, but it is available to buy and will be ready to make its racing debut in July 2010 in the Dodge Viper Cup spec series. It's the most extreme Viper yet and comes just before the current production version makes way for an all-new car.

The 8.4-litre V10 monster is an amalgam of the Viper ACR (American Club Racer) and the Viper Competition Coupe, and is good for 640bhp. It's 73kg lighter than the production car, has a track-honed suspension setup and free-flowing exhaust (bring earplugs), as well as the cavalcade of aerodynamic accoutrements you see on the photos.

Inside there's a factory fit roll cage, a fuel cell and a proper racing seat built for speed, not comfort. Anyone interested in racing will pay $110,000 for the privilege of buying the car - about £68,000, which doesn't look too steep at all - but will then be eligible for the 2010 Dodge Viper Cup.

A podium finish in one of its ten races can net up to $6,500 in prize money and $1,000 in Mopar vouchers to spend on performance products (Mopar is Dodge's tuning arm.) In addition, the overall champion will get $25,000, with second getting $10k and third $5k. Last place probably gets a Dodge Nitro.
