Brabus unleashes 211mph S-Class

Fed up of supercar drivers blasting past your underpowered Mercedes S 600 on your favourite autobahn commute? Yet you'd prefer to be in the comfortable environs of the S-Class than in the low slung cockpit of a two-seater where there's nowhere to pack in your buckets of money. Brabus, the gloriously over the top tuner of all things Mercedes-Benz has the answer to your prayers. It's called the SV12 R and basically, it's an S-Class that can top 211mph.

Yes, you read that right. Two hundred and eleven miles per hour. Just as impressive is the 0-62mph time of 4.0 seconds. That's no small feat given the 2.5-tonne kerb weight of the S-Class. Under the virtually standard bonnet lies the reason for all this physics-defying in the shape of a 6.3-litre twin-turbo V12 that puts out 740bhp and an astounding 995lb.ft of torque.

Yet from the outside, you could easily mistake the SV12 R for any other pimped up S-Class. The LED down-lighters support that theory, but elsewhere there are new 21-inch alloys and mild changes to the bodywork, some of which help cool that monster of an engine.

There's plenty of other options, including a removable tablet notebook in the boot that can be linked into a printer and used for teleconferencing. So, who's going to stage the world's first 211mph teleconference? The SV12 R makes its (rather more static) debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show on September 15th. We'll be there.
