Last week Hyundai announced that its new crossover would be called the ix35. Today (August 25th) we have the first official photo of the Tucson-replacing model that will be unveiled in
Frankfurt. The ix35 is due to go on sale next year.
Pitched as a 'C-segment' crossover, the ix35 allegedly takes up less road space than the equivalent hatchback or MPV. The compact dimensions are claimed to help deliver better fuel efficiency and lower CO
2 emissions than rival SUVs - although no figures have been released as such.
Various design themes on this car, described by Hyundai as 'fluidic sculpture' will appear on the Korean manufacturer's future models. Features such as the hexagonal grille in particular will become a recognisable family trait.
The official unveiling of the ix35 will take place at the Frankfurt Motor Show on 15th September with sales to start in spring 2010. More information will be released closer to the show date.
