Wiesmann has announced that a new model, the limited run Roadster MF5, will be launched at the
Frankfurt Motor Show next month. The roadster uses the engine from the BMW M5 and should be capable of over 190mph.
Just 55 roadsters will be built, with a price in Euros equivalent to about £164,000. For that, customers will get the traditional Wiesmann 'retro' styling, wide tyres and simple interior.
Power comes from a BMW V10 with 500bhp and 384lb.ft. This is enough to propel the MF5 from 0-62mph in 3.9 seconds and on to a top speed of 192mph according to the manufacturer's claims.
To ensure the performance can be used to full effect, the MF5 has 'perfect' weight distribution, a rigid aluminium structure and aerodynamics claimed to give the necessary stability at high speed. To aid airflow there is an extendable rear wing.
There are no photos of the MF5 Roadster yet; however we expect a strong resemblance to Wiesmann's MF5 coupé and MF4 Roadster (pictured). The covers will come off at the Frankfurt Motor Show on 15th September.
