The
Mercedes-Benz E-Class saloon and
Coupé will be joined in showrooms soon by its load-lugging estate relative. Due to be unveiled on home soil at the
Frankfurt Motor Show in September, sales in the UK will follow shortly after. With its additional capacity - as much as 1,950 litres with all the seats folded - the E-Class wagon comes with self-levelling air suspension at the rear as standard. Like its four-door relative it comes fully loaded with innovative safety kit, the E-Class estate driver being monitored constantly for drowsiness while driving for example.
Merc's new E-Class Estate is claimed to be the biggest in its class and offers a number of useful touches in its vast load area. One-touch folding rear seats feature, there being no need to remove the headrests. There are plenty of storage devices and restraint options to help keep whatever you're carrying in the back in place too, the E-Class also offered with a pair of rear-facing fold-away occasional seats - for when it's Rupert's or Clarissa's birthday party at the pony club no doubt. With an automatic tailgate you don't even need to get your hands dirty when you want to use its space. Pricing for the handsome hauler is yet to be confirmed, but expect a premium of around £1,200-£1,800 over the saloon.
