Frankly, almost everything you need to know about this story is there in the headline, so we'll keep this brief. Basically, until now Mitsubishi could only muster enough strength from its dual-clutch SST (Sport Shift Transmission) gearbox to cope with the force of the Evo FQ-300, which meant the faster ones were manual only.
Well no more, because Mitsubishi has announced the arrival of the FQ-330 SST, which means super-quick double-clutch auto or paddle-shift gear changing in a slightly faster Evo now. So, mash the throttle and enjoy the pleasure of being hurtled to 62mph in just 4.4 seconds, all the while resting the entire left side of your body. Sweet. The four-cylinder turbocharged engine generates 329bhp and 322lb.ft in case you've forgotten.
It'll cost you £35,999, which is £3,000 more than an FQ-300 SST, and £1,000 more than and manual
FQ-330 GSR, which isn't too bad an outlay for a very effective piece of transmission technology.
