How do I spot the new model?
The Forester's hexagonal grille has been updated with a new 'wing' motif grille mesh, while the front bumper has been reshaped and now features L-shaped chrome trim. These changes are designed to emphasise the car's low centre of gravity and stability. Detail refinements include black base paint for the 'hawk-eye' headlamps and LED combination lamps at the rear.
Inside, there are more soft-touch materials, plus piano black and metallic trim. The TFT display screen has a higher resolution and there are new upholstery options, including brown leather.
What about changes I can't see?
A range of measures have been applied to reduce wind and engine noise inside the cabin. These include thicker side window glass and additional soundproofing material behind the dashboard.
The suspension settings are changed to improve ride comfort and the steering rack has a quicker ratio for more direct response to driver input.
Safety equipment now includes an LED Adaptive Front Lighting System; this allows the headlamp beams to rotate left or right into corners as the driver turns the steering wheel. The fancy headlamps are in addition to the Forester's other safety systems, including a range of airbags, stability control and symmetrical all-wheel drive.
