What's all this about?
Renault is introducing new ownership packages for two of its most popular electric vehicles, to try and get more people into zero-emission (ZE) motoring.
OK, so what are the deals?
Previously for the Zoe and Kangoo Van ZE models, you could buy the vehicle but only hire the lithium-ion battery pack for the car. Now you can buy both car and battery outright, if you so wish, with cars supplied Full Purchase. Trim levels remain unchanged for both vehicles but an 'i' badge after their full names denotes you've shelled out for your battery.
How much will an FP EV with ZE from Renault cost me?
The Zoe i is available from £18,443 on the road, including the Government's £5,000 Plug-in Car Grant, whereas a battery lease model starts from £13,995. The Kangoo Van ZE i range starts at £16,161 (plus VAT) after the Government grant, compared to £12,995 if the battery is leased. The FP 'i' models have a five-year, 60,000-mile warranty for the batteries, in addition to the standard Renault vehicle protection of four years/100,000 miles.
Is Renault offering any other incentives to electrify my life?
Yes, if you still don't fancy buying the battery and saving your cash, there's a new special offer on battery hire. It's down from £45 per month to £25 for the Zoe, and stands at £33 plus VAT for the Kangoo Van ZE range, where it was previously £61 plus VAT. Renault says during the course of 36 months, that'll save you £900 and £1,008 plus VAT on the Zoe and Kangoo respectively.
