What's this about?
There is a new classic car show in town: the London Classic Car Show will take place at ExCeL from 8-11 January 2015. Attracting some of the country's top specialist dealers, the event was devised by Brand Events - the company behind Top Gear Live - and is promised to be unlike other classic shows.
How is it going to be different?
The event organisers have devised something called The Grand Avenue, a 'catwalk' along which 40 classics will be driven. Four cars from each decade of the 20th century will take their turn parading in front of the crowds. One of those cars will be an early 'Plexiglass' Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona.
A couple of famous petrolheads have given their support as curators of the show. James May will reveal what he considers to be the 'Most Significant Car Of All Time'. Television chef James Martin will display his personal collection of classics and run the James Martin Classic Café, providing 'good, simple grub' to the show's visitors.
What else will be there?
If you've fancied owning a classic there will be plenty of opportunities to choose one from the various dealers and specialists at the show. Restoration company CMC will be taking orders for replicas of Ian Callum's modernised Jaguar Mk II. Keeping with the Jaguar theme Eagle E-types will show the Eagle Speedster and Low Drag GT.
In 2015 the Citroen DS will be 60 years old and many examples of 'The Goddess' will be gathered to celebrate the anniversary. Representing modern classics, dealer Joe Macari will be exhibiting a Pagani Huayra.
How much will it cost?
The on-the-door price is £25 per person, with discounts for early booking and other concessions available. A limited number of premium tickets are offered, which give access to the premium enclosure with a view of The Grand Avenue's turning circle.
