What's happening then?
Jaguar is returning to racing.
Marvellous! About time Red Bull and Mercedes had some decent F1 opposition.
Erm, not quite. Jaguar would probably rather you didn't mention F1 and its terrible few seasons in the sport. No, this is about the happier, fluffier world of historic racing - all flat caps and chrome - and the introduction of a factory-backed Jaguar Heritage Challenge, a series for pre-1966 racing Jags.
So C-Types and D-types then?
Yup, but also humbler models such as E-Types (which once had their own dedicated racing series), XK coupés and convertibles and MkI and MKII saloons. Five races are planned for 2015, all administered by the Silverstone-based Historic Sports Car Club (HSCC). Venues are to be decided, but four will be in the UK and one in continental Europe.
Derek Weale, Jaguar Land Rover Heritage Business Director, said: "Jaguar has established a strong presence in renowned heritage car celebrations including the Mille Miglia and Goodwood Revival in recent times. A single-marque race series will be an exciting addition to our plans for next year, and I look forward to meeting privateer teams that want to race Jaguar heritage sports and saloon cars in 2015."
